Guest Resources Guide: Accessing Physical Items and Spaces

Can I Borrow Books from the Library?

Guests can borrow books from the library.  For more information check out our Circulation Policies.

You need to request a Marist Community Borrower Card by filling out the form below and submitting it in person, or scanning/photographing it and emailing it to PublicServices.Library@Marist.edu. Forms may also be completed and mailed to the library (instructions on form).

Your Marist Community Borrower Card must be presented at the Circulation Desk for every transaction.

Can I Use Library Spaces?

Guests are welcome to visit the library and/or the library's reading rooms on all three floors for studying or reading.

  • 1st floor: Quiet floor.  Please do not use your cell phone on this floor.  A silent study room, the Kirk Reading Room, is located on the north end.  No conversation is allowed within this room even if you are the only one there.
  • 2nd floor: Entrance and exit of the library.  Great place to take photos, conversations are allowed, but cell phone calls should be taken out in the lobby by the coffee bar.
  • 3rd floor: Another great place to take photos, but classes are held on this floor so keep conversations to a reasonable volume.  Cell phone calls should also be taken in the lobby by the coffee bar.

Library reading rooms should not be used for meetings with colleagues or conducting calls for your business.

Collaborative rooms are not available for guests as they are intended for group use for academic purposes like studying and group projects.

Printers are unavailable for use by guests.

Can I Access the Wi-Fi?

Marist provides access to two different networks for guest and alumni use, Marist Guest WiFi and eduroam.

You can access it from your computer or use a computer in the library to access the WiFi.

To gain Internet access on your laptop:

  1. Select the Marist Guest WiFi network from the list of available networks to open the Guest Registration browser.
  2. You will then need to enter an email address and then accept the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use, Conditions and Requirements policy to gain network access. Please note, network access will expire 24 hours from the time of registration.

To gain access through a library desktop computer:

  1. Unplug the ethernet cable connected to the computer.
  2. In the bottom tool bar, find the internet options icon shaped like a computer.
  3. In the list that opens click on Marist Guest WiFi and click on "Connect."
  4. You will then need to enter an email address and then accept the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use, Conditions and Requirements policy to gain network access. Please note, network access will expire 24 hours from the time of registration.

If you are affiliated with another educational institution, you may have access to the WiFi through eduroam.  Check the list of schools below to see if you qualify.

You will then login to the eduroam network with the credentials provided by your home institution.
