Mission Statement
The James A. Cannavino Library develops and provides information resources, tools, services, and facilities, independently and collaboratively, in support of the College's teaching, learning, and scholarship mission.
Student Learning Outcomes
After engaging with Librarians and Archivists, students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of the breadth of resources and services available to them in the Library and Archives.
- Utilize search skills and techniques to locate resources appropriate to their immediate and future information needs.
- Critically evaluate available resources and content, including format and perspective, and the ethical implications thereof.
Department Goals
The James A. Cannavino Library:
- is a welcoming, comfortable, and accessible facility, informed by student feedback, and conducive to research, collaboration, and study.
The James A. Cannavino Library staff:
- identifies, acquires, develops, and makes discoverable information resources, diverse in content and format, to support the College's curriculum and in response to student needs.
- provides research and instructional services and materials that teach and promote skills needed for identifying, navigating, evaluating, and applying information using a variety of modalities and modeled on established best practices.
- builds and maintains an Archives & Special Collections that identifies, preserves, and makes accessible unique and diverse materials supporting the College’s curriculum and documenting the College’s history.
- creates a culture and develops practices, reflective of our professional values, that support lifelong learning and community engagement.
