Presentation Practice Room: Presentation Practice Room in the Library

Welcome!

The Library has a presentation practice room available to you for practicing presentations on your own or as a group.

Equipment Needed

The Presentation Practice Room Supply Kit (available for check out at the Circulation Desk) which contains:

  1. Remote for Camera
  2. Remote for the Roku)
  3. HDMI cable-this is only needed if you are unable to cast to the tv from your laptop or a desktop computer in the room

How to Show Slides or Other Presentation Materials on the Screen

Using the Desktop Computer Nearest the TV

  1. Turn on The TV, the power button is on the left hand side of the TV, the Roku will come on automatically
  2. Connect the desktop computer to the Roku
    1. Press "Windows" button and "K" key simultaneously
    2. In the right hand window, select LB Presentation Practice Room
    3. Click Connect
    4. Using the Roku remote, click the "OK" button to allow the connection on the TV

Roku Remote

  1. Open your slides on the computer
  2. Put them into presentation mode
    • The computer is set up to automatically extend the public facing slides onto the TV while presenter view will appear on the desktop computer.
  3. Follow the directions in the "How to Record a Presentation" box for recording as you go through your slides

To disconnect the computer from the Roku, click the home button on the Roku remote.

Using your IOS Device:

  1. Connect to the Marist WiFi
  2. Click on the airplay icon and select the Presentation Practice Display from the drop down menu.
  3. The Roku will display “Allow Connection”, click OK on the remote control

Is my Apple device compatible with the Roku?

The Apple devices below support streaming audio and video with AirPlay 2.

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 12.3 or later
Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14.5 or later

If you are unable to connect to the Roku using AirPlay, use the HDMI cable provided in the presentation practice room kit.

How to Record a Presentation

  1. Turn on the camera using the remote (check this out at the Circulation Desk)

Konftel Camera Remote

  • This can also be used to adjust the zoom and position of the camera
  • Make sure the camera is connected to the desktop computer nearest the TV

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1.  Open the Zoom or Panopto available on the screen of the desktop computer nearest the TV
    • You can also record on your computer if you choose, so open the recording software on that computer instead and connect the camera to your computer (it requires a USB port)

  1. Login with your Marist username and password to the internet
  2. Login with your Marist username and password to Zoom or Panopto
  3. Once open, set the video to "Konftel Cam20" instead of "Internal Camera"
  4. If using slides, set them up on your computer or the desktop computer and connect to the Roku
    • See the "How to Show Slides or Other Presentation Materials on the Screen" Box for more information on setting this up
  5. Hit the record button in Zoom or Panopto
  6. To end the video click stop or stop recording

Close all windows to fully sign out of Panopto or Zoom, if you do not, others can see your video.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure that the camera is on, use the remote for the camera to turn it on.

 

  • Make sure that the camera is connected to the desktop computer nearest the TV, it will not have power unless it is connected

 

  • Make sure that the desktop computer nearest the TV is on, the power button is on the right side of the computer

 

  • If using slides, make sure that the TV is on, the power button is on the left side of the TV
