Individuals with Disabilities: Journals & Databases

Databases & Journals in Disability Studies

Disability Studies is an emerging field, and it is also interdisciplinary. This means it can be studied from many different fields and points of view, be it psychology, education, literature, theater, and more.

Databases can help you focus your search on a set field, or fields, as they focus on singular, or a few related, field(s). Journals can help you focus your search even more by not only focusing on a set field but also a topic within that field (for example: disability studies AND policy). These are not all of the journals in the field. Use the Find a Journal feature on the library's website (it lives under the Research tab) to find more.

These are a few search terms you might use while researching, to give you an idea of the breadth of this field:

Disability and LGBT
Disability and sports
Disability and gender
Physical disabilities and confidence
Autism and genes
Disability and United States and history
Disability and law
Disability and "children's literature"
