Research Tips

Researching a topic in LGBTQIAP+ can be tricky. Unlike most topic areas, where resources can reside in a couple of centrally located resources, LGBTQ is interdepartmental in nature. It touches various areas of research from anthropology to sciences.

Various terminology for these diverse gender groups also makes researching challenging, as terms have also shifted over the years. The word cloud is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to MAP (Movement Advancement Project): LGBT Populations terminology. 

When researching a topic ALWAYS:

  • Choose a Specific Topic
  • Brainstorm Keywords
  • Research your topic- use books, journals and databases
  • Evaluate and Analysis your Resources
  • Cite Your Sources
