Nexis Uni - Search for Case Law

1) From the Nexis Uni top menu select "Legal".
2) Select "Content Type" --> "Cases".
3) Type in search term.
4) Use menu on left --> "Courts" --> Select Circuit or State.

Nexis Uni - Searching State and Federal Codes

To search for state codes
  1. From the Nexis Uni top menu select "Legal"
  2. From the "Content Type" menu select "Statutes and Legislation"
  3. Type in a word or phrase and search.
  4. Use the "Search within results" limiters on the left side of the page to further narrow your search.  "Jurisdiction" will let you limit by state.
 
To search the federal code:
  1. From the Nexis Uni top menu select "Legal"
  2. From the "Content Type" menu select "Statutes and Legislation"
  3. Type in a word or phrase and search.
  4. Use the "Search within results" limiters on the left side of the page to further narrow your search.  For "Jurisdiction" select "Federal"

To Shepardize in Nexis Uni

  1. When looking at the case record in Nexis Uni, Shepards information is available through links from the right side column;

OR

  1. in the main search box type in shep:  followed by the case citation.
