Civic Engagement & Voting: Get Involved

How to Get Involved Within Your Marist & Local Communities

Civic engagement can happen on a large, national scale, but there are also many ways to get involved and make positive changes on the Marist campus and within our local communities. Along with the On Campus Resources provided, this page offers you different ways to get involved, both on and off campus.

Get Involved in the Local Community

There are many ways to get involved with your local communities! These can be political or not, big or small. Here are some ideas of ways to get involved:

1) Get to know your local communities! Learn about the local government, visit local businesses, learn the area's history. These are all ways to get to know the area and what's going on. They also help connect you more with the community.

2) Volunteer. Even if the volunteering isn't political, it is a way to get involved with your community and issues that matter to you.

3) Vote! Local elections are as important as national elections, and they're one of the best ways to make an impact.
