NAICS, which stands for "North American Industry Classification System" is used to classify statistical and financial information in the US, Canada and Mexico.  These 6 digits codes allow for fairly specific industry categorization and are used by a number of databases.  

Search the 2012 NAICS by keyword (ie. baseball) to find the six digit NAICS code for your project.

SBRnet Sport Business Research Network

Locate market and demographic information on minor league baseball.

Also, includes articles from a variety of sporting periodicals.

First Research Industry Profiles

Search on "baseball" for quarterly industry reports.  These are specific to the professional leagues, but you may find some interesting points of comparison.

Business Insights

Conduct an "Industry Search" using the relevant NAICS code or a keyword description. 

Always be aware of the date of a source before using it.
