Public Services Policies: Collaborative Rooms

About Collaborative Rooms

The James A. Cannavino Library provides 14 Collaborative Rooms, located on the 3rd and 1st floors of the library.

These rooms are designed for group study for current Marist students, although particular rooms allow for individual use for the specific purposes of skype interviews or presentation practice and recording, or for use by faculty.

Collaborative Rooms vary in size and equipment. 

Collaborative Room Policies

Self Booking:

All rooms can be reserved at https://marist.libcal.com/reserve/

At time of Room Use:

Rooms will be unlocked. You may go directly to your reserved space. Leave the room unlocked when you are finished.

 

Student Collaborative Rooms

  • Library student collaborative rooms are for academic use by Marist students (not for club meetings or events). 

  • Rooms are for group use (defined as two or more students), excepting use for video interviews. (For video interviews students should book ahead with a circulation supervisor by emailing publicservices.library@marist.edu or calling ext. 3106.) 

  • Students/Groups may hold no more than one reservation at a time and no more than six hours per day.  

  • Students may reserve rooms 5 days in advance.  

  • No food is permitted in collaborative rooms. 

  • Groups that make reservations under different names, or otherwise attempt to circumvent collaborative room policies, may be asked to leave the study room or potentially be blocked from making future reservations.

 

Student Booking (including Presentation Practice)

  • Students should self-book following the links on the library website. We are unable to reserve on behalf of students at the circulation desk for regular use of Collaborative Rooms.

  • Students can obtain assistance with Collaborative Room booking from the student assistant at the reference desk or over the telephone at ext. 2029.

 

Faculty and Staff Booking

  • Faculty and staff should reserve collaborative rooms in advance at https://marist.libcal.com/reserve/facstaff .

  • By contacting PublicServices.Library@marist.edu or calling ext. 3106. 

  • Rooms are not intended for use as a replacement for classroom or office space.

  • No food is permitted in collaborative rooms.

 

Special Room Use and Designations:

  • Rooms 300 A-D may only be reserved for faculty and staff during business hours  (7:30 am - 5:00 pm) and for students outside of business hours

  • Room 314 may be reserved for only one hour reservations and priority should be given to use of presentation practice and recording equipment 

  • Room 318 may ONLY be reserved after 5:00 pm 

  • Students may reserve rooms for individual use for skype or video conferencing for academic purposes and job interviews. Individual room booking should be for no more than 1 hour without supervisor approval.
